THE CHALLENGE

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) and National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) came to us, independently, when they both faced a similar challenge: they wanted to reach and encourage collaboration and best practices among public health's frontline workers.

We met this challenge with expert:

  • audience research

  • strategy and message development

  • user experience

  • web development

  • digital and social media

We asked…

What if...

we connect healthcare professionals and frontline workers so they can more effectively prevent the spread of infections?

THE APPROACH

We led NACCHO on the journey of discovering their audience, drawing out insights and crafting key messages.

Then, we developed a website with NNPHI to feature helpful information and interactive infographics. To make sure it got in the hands of the people who need it most, we developed a social media campaign.

OUR WORK WITH

We conducted a literature review of relevant reports, articles, and web resources. Then, we analyzed raw data sets that reflected previous efforts for Project Firstline. This informed a nuanced understanding of NACCHO’s primary audience: local health departments across the nation.

We leveraged NNPHI’s existing audience of public health professionals to equip first-line workers with engaging, easy-to-understand materials on key topics in infection prevention.

That included a new website; interactive infographics; digital, email, and social media promotion; and more.

We created dynamic digital experiences—as well as bite-sized lessons—on various topics and in various formats.

A more resilient frontline workforce—ready to protect themselves, their patients, and their communities from infectious disease threats.

Our combination of efforts:

  • Increased the number of people with access to proven infection control resources.

  • Engaged and empowered healthcare workers to think critically about infection control.

  • Expanded understanding of how to prevent various types of infection in all its forms.
