National Women’s Health Week

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. I always look forward to shaking off winter, the sunshine lasting a bit longer each day, the lovely blooms around Atlanta, and the perfect “sitting on a patio” weather (before the summer heat and humidity descends).

Another reason? Banyan’s healthy Change for Good challenge, now in its third year. It’s an added incentive to move a little more, eat a bit healthier, and capitalize on friendly competition among my Banyan colleagues. All of us have access to an interactive spreadsheet to help us track progress, earn points, and hopefully—if all goes well—achieve our wellness “status”—that ultimate goal of bronze, silver, gold, platinum, or prestige.

It fits in perfectly with another spring observance—National Women’s Health Week. Led by the Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health and kicked off each Mother’s Day, the goal is to empower women to make their health a priority. The resources they provide include tips on how to improve your health, a pledge you can take to show your support, and other ways to get involved and start creating personal change for good.

So whether you celebrate women’s health via Crossfit…

We consider it a job well done. It doesn’t take much to do just a bit better. And as we know from tracking our challenge efforts, it adds up quickly. Every little bit counts.
